Hafnium dioxide is commonly found in small amounts.The chemical properties are not active, and the properties of high melting point, high resistivity, high refractive index and low thermal expansion coefficient make it an important high-temperature resistant material, ceramic insulation material and ceramic shading agent.

The band gap is about 5 to 7eV.It's stimulating.Relative density 5.85.Melting point is 2680 ℃.The boiling point of 4300 ℃.subdiamond.
