1. Used in General Plastics

Improving the toughness and aging resistance of PP has always been the focus of attention. The aging resistance and other properties of the composites formed by blending polypropylene with nano-TiO2 and SiO2 as additives were studied. the results showed that after ultraviolet irradiation for 200 hours, the tensile strength of PP without nanoparticles lost more than 50%, and the impact strength lost more than 1 pound 3. When irradiated for 700 hours, the tensile strength lost 88.38%, the impact strength lost nearly 50%, and it has no use value. With the addition of nanoparticles, the aging resistance is greatly improved, and different kinds of nanoparticles have different improvement effects, and the effect of nano-TiO2 is better than that of nano-Si02. The mechanical properties and aging resistance of nano-TiO2 / PP composites were studied. the results show that the addition of 1% ~ 2% nano-TiO2 can significantly improve the impact resistance of PP, and the nano-Ti02 content of 1%-4% has almost no effect on the tensile strength of the composites, while the addition of a small amount of nano-Ti02 can greatly improve the UV aging resistance of PP. It shows that nano-TiO2 has a strong ability to absorb ultraviolet light, which can improve the weather resistance of materials and prolong the service life of outdoor products.

 

3. Used in the modification of PS and HIPS

TiO2 filled (PS/ divinylbenzene) copolymer can obviously improve the heat resistance of the basic resin, and the dielectric constant increases with the increase of TiO2 content. At the same time, the dielectric loss factor also increases, but the dielectric constant basically does not change with the change of frequency. This material basically meets the requirements of microwave communication materials. Filling high impact polystyrene (HIPS) recycled materials with nano-TiO2, it is found that when the content of TiO2 is only 1%, the notched impact strength, tensile strength and heat resistance temperature of the materials can be improved at the same time, and the recycled HIPS materials can be reused, which has good economic benefits. The surface of nano-TiO2 was pretreated, and high-performance HIPS/TiO2 nanocomposites were prepared by masterbatch method with macromolecular dispersant. The experimental results show that when the content of TiO2 is 2%, the notched impact strength, tensile strength and elastic modulus of the material reach the maximum, and the hardness, heat resistance temperature and flame retardancy of the material increase with the increase of TiO2 content.

 

4. Used in antibacterial plastics and fresh-keeping film

At present, silver antibacterial agent is widely used in antibacterial plastics. although it has high bactericidal properties, it is easy to change color when exposed to light or preservation, and its precipitation from plastics is disadvantageous to the human body. In addition, due to the liveliness of silver, it is easy to cause yellowing of plastic color caused by redox reaction, which will have a negative impact on the application of plastics. Some data show that nano-TiO2 has good germicidal efficacy because of its excellent photocatalytic performance.

5. Used in thermosetting plastics

Unsaturated polyester (UP) resin was filled with untreated and surface treated nano-Ti02. The effects of nano-TiO2 content on the tensile strength, flexural strength, impact strength and elongation at break of unsaturated polyester resin were studied. The results show that the toughening and strengthening effect of the material is the best when the content of nano-TiO2 is 4%, and its glass transition temperature is higher than that of pure unsaturated polyester resin, and the glass transition temperature of the treated filled composite is higher. The results show that nano-TiO2 can strengthen and toughen the epoxy resin after surface treatment with coupling agent. when the filling amount is 3%, the tensile elastic modulus of the material increases by 37%, the tensile strength increases by 44%, and the impact strength increases by 898%. Other properties are also significantly improved.

 

Bismaleimide (BMD) is an important basic resin for the preparation of high performance composites, which is widely used in the aerospace field, but most bismaleimide monomers have high melting point, high curing temperature and brittleness due to the high cross-linking density of cured resins. Originally, bismaleimide was modified by blending with rubber and thermoplastic resin or by M-ichael addition copolymerization. However, the common disadvantage of these methods is the decrease of heat resistance of the resin. On the basis of finding that nano-TiO2 can catalyze the polymerization of BMI monomer, the effects of nano-TiO2 on the modification of aromatic diamine and N-substituted phenyl Maleimide, the curing reactivity and thermal stability of curing resin were studied. The results show that the introduction of nano-TiO2 can reduce the curing temperature by 450.105 and increase the heat resistance temperature index of cured products by 190.27 .

 

6. Others

Nano-TiO2 can also be used in conductive plastics, and photodegradable plastics can be designed to reduce "white pollution" by making use of its photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds.
