Aluminum nitride ceramics are mainly crystalline phases of aluminum nitride (AIN), with a unique crystal structure, consisting of 〔AIN〕tetrahedrons, and belong to the wurtzite structure of the hexagonal system. In its chemical composition, aluminum accounts for 65.81%, nitrogen accounts for 34.19%, and the specific gravity is 3.261g/cm³. It is white or grayish white in appearance, colorless and transparent in single crystals, and sublimates and decomposes at 2450℃ under normal pressure. It is a typical high-temperature heat-resistant material. ​
The thermal conductivity of aluminum nitride ceramics is amazing, reaching 180-260W/(m・K), which is more than 10 times that of traditional alumina ceramics, and can even be comparable to beryllium oxide and silicon carbide. In high-heat generation scenarios, it is an excellent thermal conductivity material. Its thermal expansion coefficient is about 4.5×10⁻⁶℃, which is highly compatible with silicon (3.5 – 4×10⁻⁶℃) and gallium arsenide (6×10⁻⁶℃). This feature makes it stable in response to temperature changes. In addition, it also has excellent electrical properties, dielectric constant, dielectric loss, volume resistivity, dielectric strength are excellent, mechanical properties are not inferior, flexural strength is higher than alumina and beryllium oxide ceramics, and it can be sintered at normal pressure, is non-toxic and harmless, and safety is guaranteed. ​
